Dow aviation deicing fluids combine the products, talents, technologies, resources, and capabilities of Dow and Union Carbide into one organization. Our focus is to deliver superior performing fluids to meet our customers' aviation deicing needs. Dow offers SAE AMS 1424 Type I deicing fluids and SAE AMS 1428 Type IV anti-icing fluids.

Our current Type I fluids offer some of the lowest aquatic toxicity characteristics of any in the industry. We also invented the Type IV aircraft deicing/anti-icing fluid category with our patented UCAR Aircraft Anti-Icing Fluid (AAF) ULTRA in 1994. UCAR AAF ULTRA and later, UCAR Aircraft Deicing Fluid/Aircraft Anti-icing Fluid (ADF/AAF) ULTRA+, provided holdover times that were substantially longer than the existing SAE AMS Type II aircraft deicing/anti-icing fluids. UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+, is the only fluid formulated with our patented associative thickener technology which provides a highly shear stable fluid with minimal dryout deposits and the ability to store in carbon steel tanks.
